Today, agility is taken for granted in the way we think and act. DevOps is the most advanced method used to promote better collaboration across departmental boundaries and enable automation in development and operations. At the same time, services and IT systems should continue to function reliably, stably, securely and with high performance and be available at all times.
IT Service Management is the unifying element, the underlying discipline that ensures agility and value is delivered to the customer. While DevOps tends to focus on the software delivery lifecycle, ITSM has a broader focus; it deals with all aspects of the customer relationship, from the delivery of standard services to ongoing support and operational activities. ITSM is therefore something like the left and right end of DevOps. Agile and lean is the common approach.
That's why this year's motto is: Agile, Lean and DevOps only work with ITSM!
